THE JOE CHINDAMO TRIO AT THE SURF CLUB
Saturday 27 July, 6.00 pm, Point Lookout Surf Life Saving Club
Joe Chindamo is a musical polyglot in the tradition of Bernstein and Previn. He is routinely described as one of the best jazz pianists in the world, though his art transcends jazz, as a composer of concertos, chamber music and film music. He possesses an uncanny ability to personalise anything that enters his orbit. ‘He has more facility on the piano than you could ever wish for, his energy is boundless, he is forever inventive and never settles for the obvious (unless it’s the best)’ – James Morrison, jazz maestro
The Joe Chindamo Trio take the stage at the iconic Surf Club concert. Their first set features music from the Great American Songbook (Gershwin, Rogers at al. through to later composers such as Bacharach) and, after interval, Joe’s unique approach comes to the fore in music written for the trio and strings.
(Joe Chindamo, piano, Brendan Clarke, double bass, Danny Fischer, drums, and the festival strings)
